The very model of calm, balanced, and at peace with the collective wisdom
about
Primordial and progressive, plain-spoken and deviously complex, raw and polished, lo-fi and high-tech — Bridges of Königsberg (Christopher Burns, David Collins, and Peter J. Woods) gleefully collapse distinctions and confound genres in their latest opus, The Shenanigans-to-Tomfoolery Continuum. Pranks and tricks abound as the band decorates monolithic walls of sound with jangly and skittering rhythms, embeds dry and abraded gestures into lush synthetic textures, and channels chaotic improvisational energy through tightly formed structures. Joybuzzers, elephant cries, sheet metal scrapes, drum machines and ratchets all find their place on the continuum as BOK use mischief as a launching-off point to push deep into “weirder and more specific” zones and sonic frontiers.
Utilizing a range of electronic and electro-acoustic approaches, the soundscapes of Shenanigans recall classic tape works from Tod Dockstader and the GRM, pioneering computer music from James Tenney and the Hub, and the eclecticism of the modern noise and experimental underground. BOK integrates broken techno, twisted patterns, harsh noise, and drones into an ecstatic intensity of fractured samples, digital and modular synthetics, bowed objects, and lo-fi electronics to create a singular sound of experimental and experiential immediacy. Presented as a limited edition of 100 professionally printed compact discs in 4 panel wallet cases.
Bridges of Königsberg is the formerly Milwaukee, Wisconsin based trio of Christopher Burns (Neural Goldberg, Tanngrisnir, Scrawl, Minor Vices), David Collins (Minor Vices, Cobblers With Heart, Hyperlocal MKE), and Peter J. Woods (FTAM Productions, Phoned Nil Trio, Normal Rituals).
